ACTING

CLASS

springfield, vt

ABOUT

Training for the Actor is held in Springfield, VT every Monday from 6-9p for both beginner and advanced actors interested in developing and honing their craft. This class is relatively advanced. DON’T LET THAT DISCOURAGE YOU!  Whether you’re a seasoned veteran, or  new to acting, or you simply suffer from stage fright and wish to change that, this class can help.

In this weekly class we will learn and practice skills and tools for stage and on-camera acting with a focus on:

SCENE STUDY AND CHARACTER ANALYSIS
Honing/perfecting the actor's approach to understanding the motivations, emotional nuances and complexity of a character in the arc of a story.

ACTING AS A PROFESSION

Sharing experiential insight into the intricacies of the business of acting so we can together build an understanding of how to take our skills into a real world application. Equipping the actor (new or seasoned) with the tools and the confidence to forge a sense of reliance on themselves and their peers and take control of the direction of their career creating a future less dependent on gatekeepers.

HOW IT WORKS

As this is primarily a scene study class, it is recommended that each student expect to allot themselves a minimum of two months to work a scene during which time these classes are referred to as “work sessions.” When the scene is ready to graduate from a “work session” to a “performance session” the scene will then be performed for the class as if it were a “real world” setting (i.e. audition, live performance, or filming day). Weekly emails are sent out to students containing the scheduling of work sessions for the following week (or which scenes will be working from one week to the next), which class room class will be held in week to week, special assignments, reading materials, and other pertinent information.

TUITION

$200 per month. Payment plans may be available and arranged in advance if needed. To ensure that you get the full benefit of class, students are asked to attend weekly when at all possible. Missed classes will not be refunded.

ENROLLMENT

In order to be considered for enrollment, each prospective student should prepare one monologue from any movie, TV show, or theater production (classical or contemporary) for an audition. At minimum it is expected that the piece be off-book (memorized), that the student have some sense of the opinion/attitude of the character, and be open and willing to take direction in the audition. The piece should be under 5 minutes. No props of any kind. Submit an application below to get started.
